During my tenure as VP of Innovations at Tribune Interactive, each department was tasked with creating a video describing what it was that we did all day.
In my department, we used the term “Fire Drill” to describe a screaming emergency that required us to drop whatever we were working on to address it immediately. This happened with enough frequency that we started calling ourselves the “Fire Department.”
I will admit that it’s possible we may have put a bit too much effort into this video. Ours was certainly the only one with a score, special effects, and a celebrity guest. Even so, it was a lot of fun and one of the things I’m proudest of during my time at TI.
The creative genius who did the graphics and editing was Jon Vreeland - http://www.vree.com
The score was “Summon the Worms” and “The Jihad” from the Children of Dune Soundtrack by Brian Tyler.
Voiceover was Brian Christopher -http://www.bcvonow.com/
And yes, the celebrity guest is legit, and he really came and sat with us for a few minutes one hilarious Wednesday afternoon. Marc Chase, who he is impersonating, is the president of Tribune Interactive, and our boss at the time.
With the exception of the helicopter sequence in the opening, everything else was filmed by the three of us. Several of the shots nearly resulted in serious injury but it’s all in good fun.
